Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr. Sudaraka Ariyaratne

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Advocata Institute, Sudaraka is responsible for Advocata’s applied microeconomic research on Sri Lanka’s primary industries.

Sudaraka holds a PhD in Economics from Rice University along with a BA in Economics from New York University with expertise in applied microeconomics, development, and institutional economics. With more than 5 years of professional experience in economic policy research, he has developed expertise in the tea, paddy, gaming, apparel, and coconut industries of Sri Lanka.

Prior to joining Advocata Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in June 2026, Sudaraka served as a Research Consultant at Advocata and Teaching Assistant in applied econometrics, microeconomics, and macroeconomics at Rice University.

With a strong commitment to excellence, Sudaraka continues to contribute to Advocata Institute’s mission of fostering sound public policy and sustainable economic growth.
