Dilimini Abeyratne
As the Communications Executive at Advocata Institute, she is responsible for developing and managing communications strategies, creating policy-focused content, supporting digital media initiatives, and contributing to the Institute’s public engagement activities.
Her work includes content development, research communication, translations, proofreading, article writing, hosting, presenting, representing the Institute as a panelist, and event coordination to effectively communicate policy ideas to diverse audiences.
She holds a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Peradeniya and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from the University of Kelaniya, along with a Diploma in English from BritishWay English Academy. She is a Sworn Translator (English–Sinhala) with over eight years of experience in the translation field. Her debut poetry collection, Viraga Ragaya, was selected as the winning manuscript at the National Manuscript Competition organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs in 2019. With five years of professional experience, she has worked in the fields of research and communications, developing expertise in translating complex economic and policy issues into accessible content.
Prior to joining Advocata Institute, she worked at several research institutions, including the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute (LKI), the Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA) in collaboration with the University of Sussex, United Kingdom, the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS), and the Department of Economics, University of Kelaniya, as a Research Assistant. Through these roles, she gained experience in data collection, enumerator training, conducting research, article and report writing, intern supervision, and event coordination.
With a strong commitment to excellence, she continues to contribute to Advocata Institute’s mission of fostering sound public policy and sustainable economic growth.
