Milroy Anthony
As the Senior Communication Executive at Advocata Institute, Milroy Anthony oversees Advocata Kural and leads the development of strategic multimedia communications across podcasts, video, web and social media. Through accessible and engaging storytelling, he helps communicate complex economic and public-policy issues to wider audiences, with a particular focus on Tamil-speaking communities.
With more than 15 years of professional experience, Milroy has worked across journalism, digital communications, visual storytelling, multimedia production, media training, project coordination and public-interest communication. Prior to joining Advocata Institute, he served as a Course Coordinator, Trainer, Resource Person and Consultant at the Sri Lanka College of Journalism, contributing to journalism education, curriculum development, technical training, content production and programme coordination. He has also undertaken training, consultancy and facilitation assignments with organisations including Internews, the National Peace Council and the Sri Lanka Press Institute.
Earlier in his career, Milroy worked in web and visual journalism, photo journalism and sports reporting. As a Sports Journalist at Dialog Axiata’s ThePapare.com, a leading Sri Lankan sports media platform, he covered cricket, football, hockey and rugby, interviewed sportsmen, and produced articles, photographs, graphics and video stories for digital audiences. He also produced “Little Sanga,” a Tamil-language video that received more than 250,000 organic views. Milroy previously worked as a Visual Journalist and Video Editor at Lankasri, where he contributed to coverage of political and current-affairs issues.
Milroy holds a Diploma in Journalism from the University of Colombo and a National Diploma in Video Production Technology from the National Institute of Vocational Training of Sri Lanka. His additional professional qualifications include training in social media, graphics and animation, audiovisual editing and broadcasting techniques.
Drawing on his experience in multilingual communication, multimedia journalism and audience engagement, he continues to support Advocata Institute’s mission of advancing sound public policy and sustainable economic growth.
